credit cards to help you on how credit works.

such as a Credit Card Payment Calculator and to other resources to help you better manage
your personal finances.
The Toll Free Number
If you call the toll free number, an operator will transfer
you to a customer service representative for your credit card issuer or to a credit
counselor if you have more then one credit card account in jeopardy. The operator will not
serve as a credit counselor or collect any personal information from you.
Improve Your Credit
Even before contacting Help With My Credit, you
may want to improve your credit score, here are some things that you can do:
- Make sure your Credit Report is accurate. Request a current
copy of your credit bureau report information and verify all information is accurate.
Under the FACT Act amendments to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, you are entitled to one
free Personal Credit Report in a 12 month period. To request your free annual report
online visit: http://www.annualcreditreport.com,
by phone call toll-free: 1 877 322-8228
or by mail: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281
or contact one of the three major credit bureaus directly:
Equifax, Credit Information Services, Inc., Post Office Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374
Experian, Consumer Information, Post Office Box 1909, Orange, CA 92865
TransUnion, Post Office Box 2000, Chester, PA 19022
Once you see your credit report, if there is any inaccurate information on your report,
work with that credit bureau that provided you your credit report and correct that
inaccurate information.
- Continue to make all payments on time, even if it is only
the minimum payment for a time. Making your payments on time will help to establish a good
payment history.
- Do not close old or paid-off accounts. Your old established
accounts in good standing, even if they are not being used or only used in emergencies,
will help to establish the length and history of your credit report.
